Not every project is a sphere. A large share of our work is the ordinary but unforgiving job of a flat panel that has to look flawless from two metres away — boardrooms, control rooms, broadcast studios, museum walls.

COB packaging has changed this category more than any pitch reduction. Because the LEDs are encapsulated in resin rather than mounted on a mask, the surface resists impact and moisture, and the black level holds up under ambient light. For rooms with windows, COB at P1.5 usually beats conventional SMD at P1.2 in perceived contrast.

GOB sits between the two: a glue-on-board layer over standard SMD modules. It costs less than COB and survives touching, cleaning and the occasional football, which makes it the practical choice for education and public-space walls.

Choosing between COB, GOB and SMD

SMD is the cheapest per square metre and the most repairable one LED at a time. GOB adds a protective layer for spaces where the screen gets touched. COB gives the best black level and impact resistance but is repaired at module level rather than per pixel. For a boardroom with daylight, COB; for a school corridor, GOB; for a price-sensitive rental wall, SMD.

FAQ

Indoor Fine-Pitch LED Display questions

Three that come up on almost every fine pitch enquiry. Ask us anything else directly.

What pitch do I need for a 4 m viewing distance?
At 4 m, P1.8 to P2.5 is comfortable for video content and P1.5 if text and spreadsheets are the main use. The common rule of roughly 1 mm of pitch per metre of distance is a starting point, not a hard limit.
Is COB worth the extra cost?
If the room has daylight, if the screen is at eye level where it can be touched, or if black level matters for the content, yes. If it is a dark control room viewed from 5 m, the difference is hard to justify.
Can fine-pitch panels be curved later?
Only if you buy curved-capable cabinets now. Standard fine-pitch cabinets are rigid; retrofitting curvature means replacing the cabinet, not the modules.

Tell us the size and the viewing distance.

Those two numbers decide the pitch, the cabinet count and most of the price. Send them and we will come back with a build.
